The stellar Lower East imprint returns with a new single from Polish production duo, Viadrina, entitled ‘Cellar Door’.

The pair have released singles and remixes for the likes of Catz N’ Dogz Pets Recordings and Marcin Czubala’s Your Mama’s Friend, touching on numerous styles from deep house through to pumping disco cuts and earned themselves a highly praised status as Poland’s hottest new act. This release follows Lower East’s outstanding Inner Circles VA’s, which saw in tracks from rising talents such as Alexis Raphael, Rebel, Michael Jansons and Viadrina’s own ‘Queens’ garnering support from the likes of James Teej, Ralph Lawson and Rob Mello. ‘Cellar Door’ opens the release, encompassing a dark edginess with low-pitched vocal murmurs, sensual female vocals and a raw saw wave bass-hook. Notably Viadrina’s experimentation with heavy reverb tails, elongated delay times and warbling synth lines, displays an ability to push further afield from straight-laced productions, instead opting to paint a bigger picture with an expansive dynamism.

‘Black Door’ puts its focus on solid drum programming and low-end tonal stabs to create a gritty rolling number, again background atmospherics add subtle depths to the track. Spacious reverbs steadily build the track for several minutes, before a breaking point introduces spoken word vocal lines and classic deep house synth chords, constructing a crossover vibe that captures both dark and light textures.

‘Spellbound’ closes the release, veering in a soul-drenched direction. Ardent female vocals are cleverly looped and layered to create an organic movement in the track that builds tension, while the dark progressive bass blossoms the track into a peak-time heavy hitter.
