v.a. – four to the floor p. 3

At this stage, it’d be easy to tire of Diynamic’s Four to the Floor series, or, at least, it would be if the results weren’t so darn impressive. The key to a release like this, then, is judging each EP on its own merits and to be fair, each one has delivered its fair share of spectacular moments thus far. The third installment in the series is no different in that regard either.

You probably know the drill by now (four new producers summon up a track each for the Hamburg label), so we’ll skip the preamble and go straight down to analyzing the tracks. On that note, not-so-easing us in here is the high-tempo strands of D33P and Jos & Eli’s ‘’Galactica’’. Much like its name suggests, it’s a forward-facing track that’s full of cosmic whirls and synth flashes that really get under the skin. Audio Junkies’ ‘’Bansky’’ relies heavily on Nintendo sounds to bring the heat, although it gets better by the time these are subdued in favour of some more sun-kissed fodder. If this one doesn’t have you reaching for the lasers, nothing will.

Hobo’s ‘’Mirage’’ is nothing more than the sum of a few parts, although it’s the manner by which it’s executed that’s so exciting, and it must surely be one of the most distinctive and memorable tracks in the series. Jobb & Corco’s ‘’African Ballad’’ closes amongst a barrage of – you guessed it – suspense, drums and percussion and while Four to the Floor Part 3 can be a lot to digest in one sitting, pick at it cleverly and you’ll soon find it’s a cracking release.
