V.A. – FLATMATES EP

Audiowhore Records returns this February with its second release, a Various Artists EP entitled ‘Flat Mates’, featuring cuts from London-based up and coming producers Luke Larrel & Jake McKinson, Playtime Productions and Mix Kidd Musik. Audiowhore Records launched in late 2012 with a release from Rinse FM DJ MA1, picking up support from the likes of Rob Mello, Bubba, Cozzy D and Severino. Here the label pushes forward, introducing some new artists, Luke Larrel & Jake McKinson, Playtime Productions and Mix Kidd Musik, all delivering contemporary house cuts, infused with warmth and an infectious depth.

Opening the release is ‘Of Yeah’, by production duo Luke Larrell & Jake McKinson, the cut takes on the form of soulful, deep-house, employing weighty 808 drums, synth chord progressions and a variety of vocal chops to create a heady, peak-time workout. Next up is Playtime Productions’ ‘Sicker Than Your Average’, taking things in a deeper, darker direction. Eerie synth lines and penetrating electronic bass tones run alongside a hip-hop vocal sample and a stabbing, hooky low-end resulting in an atmospheric slow bloomer. Closing the release is Mix Kidd Musik’s ‘I’m Going’ DC10’, a groove-led cut embracing a trippy edge. Drawn- out arpeggitated synth lines run with simple yet effective drums and heavily delayed vocal chops. The track steadily evolves before introducing a warbling arp bass-line to the cut that meanders around the groove for the rest of its duration.

Audiowhore Records deliver three enticing house cuts here, ‘Flat Mates’ is out on Audiowhore Records 4th February 2013 (Beatport Exclusive) and 18th Febraury (Digital).
