ohm hourani – insane

Montreal’s Mile End Records looks once again to talented local producer Ohm Hourani for a brand new single featuring remixes from Tiger Stripes and Jimmy Be…

Mile End Records has been a leading light in Canada’s electronic music scene for some time now, releasing music from the likes of Angel Moraes, Roy Davis Jnr, Darius Syrossian and Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts. Among the label’s local talent signings is Ohm Hourani, the Jordanian born DJ/producer who settled in Montreal a few years ago to pursue his passion for music. His ‘Last Night Gambler’ was a big record for the label last year and now he returns with a brand new single in the shape of ‘Insane’. The release kicks off with the original version, a taut and atmospheric, slow builder of a track that creates a deep and spacious vibe with it mixes of haunting FX, rolling drums and a memorable vocal. The original is followed by a remix from Sweden’s Mikael Nordgren AKA Tiger Stripes, a producer best know for his releases on labels such as Get Physical, My Favorite Robot, Noir & Toolroom. Here Nordgren delivers a superb reworking of ‘Insane’ powered with a churning bassline, hooky yet subtle synth riffs and rolling percussion. To complete the package fellow Montreal producer Jimmy Be steps up with a remix that heads straight for the floor, lifting things into big room tech house territory.

With Ohm Hourani’s latest single it would seem that the Mile End Records have another surefire winner on their hands, enjoy!
