Mathy K. & The Funky Punch is an urban legend. It is a shadow play in music history and a tale told by party addicts with the world wide web revealing only a few hints on his persona, none which are officially confirmed. After decades of desire for his music and a legendary secret gig in New York, Mathy K’s first official EP ‘M.D.M.K’ will be released on 2DIY4 as a piece of music history resurrected. Now channeling a distinctive Mikro-Cosmic Uptempo Disco sound, Mathy K is BACK to start the party.

BACKGROUND

• Initial Mathy K. & The Funky Punch activities were recorded in the late 80´s but at the beginning of the 90´s he suddenly disappeared, leaving musicians, journalists and fans crestfallen. They have been searching ever since. Nowadays you will find news articles, magnetic tape cassettes and studded jackets with his portrait hanging in the museums of music history.

• The most dramatic example of the effect Mathy K’s disappearance had on the music industry is Mark Wahlberg´s project a.k.a. “Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch”, which was in fact dedicated to the elusive artist. In recent years pictures and sound recordings appeared, which were assumed to be a proof for some new blazing activity of the music legend. However, these turned out to be hoaxes thought up by greedy local journalists.

• The first evidence of a comeback that could be taken seriously was recorded in 2011. This occurred when the track ‘Back In The Days’ was released with utmost secrecy on a record label situated in Jena. Fast forward to 2013 and the search is over courtesy of the DIYnamic family’s dedicated A&R team.
