Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky are Apollonia. Each one of them is an acclaimed artist anyway but together they just break the floors.

How did Apollonia come to life?

We have known each for more than 10 years, both as friends and professionally. We share the same musical roots and tastes and love to play together, so there came a point where it was only natural to make our back2back sets official and to create the label together.

We know you do not like to talk about styles of music, so is your secret to cross borders and just play what you feel will work for the moment?

That’s true that we like to play from deep house to techno, and from old school to new school… We have been collecting records for more than 15 years and we like to dig all the time, picking some old records that still sound so modern and perfect for the time. It also depends on the moment of course… playing at a festival to huge crowds is very different to an intimate after party on the beach.

Is it always back2back2back or are there days or better said nights when one or two just got the better day and the other(s) step back?

The concept of Apollonia is back2back, one record each. We really play as a band, the aim being to sound like one artist, not 3 individuals. It’s all about creating a fluid synergy.

From vinyl to CD to computer and back to vinyl, why?

I think we were missing going to records shop, digging out records and actually we realised its easier to find good music on vinyl. We like the object and this is also why we started DJing more than 15 years ago. Nowadays we play mainly vinyl but also cds and usb stick as the turntables are not always in good condition at clubs. All the mediums can be useful.

Upcoming projects?

17th June we are very happy to be releasing the debut Apollonia EP, two tracks which are also included in our new compilation for the London club fabric – fabric 70. After the summer we will start to work on an LP together, but of course have more releases coming on the label in the meantime – look out for a repress of the legendary Callisto.

You mention DC10 as one of your favourite clubs and we can only agree – what makes it so special for those who don’t know yet?

The crowd is amazing there, you have a lot of people from all around the world coming to party together… the energy is just amazing and you want give the best you can. Long live DC10!!

What is for you the real Ibiza?

Clubbing at dc10, afterparties at apollonia villa, refueling at Coco Beach, Playa D’en Bossa.

Favourite places to hang out?

DC10 for sure. In fact on 24th August it’s the only place to be as it’s Apollonia all night long… hehehe. We’ll be playing at Circoloco Mondays regularly throughout the summer, both individually and as Apollonia.
