Eat Soup!
We are sitting with Jean Cedric, good friend, excellent DJ and about to do something for the island, especially for people in need – let’s find out what he is up to:
First of all good to see you back on track bro – how was your winter?
In twenty years Ibiza has always been an emotional roller coaster for me. This winter more than ever. I found myself back to square one but lucky me I had some real friends.
You are starting a new project called ‘Eat Soup’ – what is it about? As we were speaking during a radio session on Pure Ibiza Radio you said you had the idea to the party while walking around Ibiza town being shocked about how many people live in the streets.
Indeed, I was walking the streets of Eivissa and was shocked by the outrageous number of people sleeping in the streets. But not only that, I also met a lot of people living under a roof having to fight every day to feed themselves correctly in winter. Loneliness is an invisible plague as well. As an impulsive optimist I wanted to react…
As well musically it was time to share more than my personal point of view. To reunite people and do my favorite things – sharing and smiling. So a substantial part of my benefit will be used to create a moment (a weekly or a monthly to start…) next winter. Where you can find a smile and and a soup to share. Maybe I’m a dreamer but it is worth a try … who wants to join me?
What is the musical concept?
A housy beat to move your hips, the power of a groovy bass, a twist of minimal mental ont top, shaking with finesse.
You will not focus on one venue?
I’m talking with different venues, would be awsome if everyone could be involved at least once – who knows ?
Is it an off-season event or do you want to do it the whole year round?
The problem is not gonna disappear soon so it will be a long shot – your interview is a first step of a new story I hope – who wanna help?
How can people get involved?
First come and share a dance, a drink or a smile with us … all the artists have made a financial effort to support the project. But if you are away or busy you can join us here and you can share money on our «tipee» or watch add on our « utip» if you prefer to support us. All the accounts will be public and at any time and it will be reported how we use the money wisely.
Any more plans for the summer?
Yes, very soon I will launch a Youtube channel called «lafinesse» to interview artists, Djs and I hope some local politics with an open hand questionary based on the one from the television show «bouillon de culture» ( soup of culture ) from the French infamous Bernard Pivot.
Stay tuned and thanks a lot to receive me with such a warm welcome. See you on the dance floor!
Thanks to you Jean Cedric, projects like yours give hope that more and more people will find out the only way we can solve so many problems is together, hand in hand. See you on the dancefloor.
