EMILIANO COMOLLO – FERDINAND EP
Emiliano Comollo has been making waves in Italy for some time now.
But now with his second release, and first release on Parallel Records, the rest of the world are beginning to find out what all the fuss has been about. A resident at We Play the Music We Love in his native Turin, this guy makes heavy and stipped beats that are sure to cause a commotion wherever they’re allowed to fully flex their muscle.
The first track up on the Ferdinand EP is is ‘No Work’ with its skippy, eerie, percussive beat and and infectious driving rhythm that makes the track both fervent and striking. It’s a definite mover and shaker and a great record that’ll ignite practically any well educated dancefloor.
The second track and title track, ‘Ferdinand’, has a very distinct South American flavour rhythm to it. A clever use of samples and synth overtones really bring the track to fruition, and it’s full of momentum and feel-good groove – not to mention more than a smidgen of well-heeled percussive wares. This guy has a talent for making people dance and on this basis, a promising future lies ahead in the production game too.
