ELLIOT ADAMSON – TRANSATLANTIC EP
Elliot Adamson is the latest man to take the reins for Troupe, the Bristol-based clubnight that now resides in London.
Renowned for their very British take on house and techno, the label’s endeavours thus far have seen a host of up-and-coming names mark their territory. Adamson’s recruitment then, is a pretty typically one, even if the results most definitely speak for themselves.
Seeing us out the traps is the cultured sounds of ‘Montpellier’. While the French town is an unusual place with which to name your track after, there’s clearly method in Adamson’s madness, as he introduces us to a side of his sound palette that’s imbued with big room sounds from the get-go. Tough as nails and not the sort of track that’ll take prisoners, this one is made for standing back and admitting as it engulfs the dancefloor in a haze of potent vibes.
B-side Detoit, however, is my pick of the bunch. Unlike Montpellier, the Motor City’s contribution to music can’t be questioned, and this is an interesting ode to say the least. While it isn’t quite indicative of the sort of techno the city is known for, it does at least see the producer summon up a track that retains its own sort of quirky charm. On this basis, Adamson’s definitely one to keep an eye on anyway.
