DANIEL AVERY – WATER JUMP
Taking a big step forward, rising star Daniel Avery delivers his second EP on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound imprint. ‘Water Jump’ EP features four original tracks plus a remix of the huge ‘Need Electric’ courtesy of Photonz.
´Drone Logic´, ´Water Jump´, ´Reception´ and ´A Quiet Life´ all illustrate Daniel´s variety as a producer and knowledge of underground club music, referencing the great music of labels such as Kompakt and Ghostly as well as many sounds originating away from the dancefloor. Rich beats meet reduced basslines, freaky oldschool synths coated of a 909, acid freqs meet wild melodies, beats are broken and glued together again. But exactly this variety of sounds make the tracks a real weapon for the skilled DJ, ‘Drone Logic’ and ‘Water Jump’ are excellent tracks for an intelligent set and the remix from ‘Need Electric’ is a real challenge for mixers. That for sure is why ´Drone Logic´ has already had regular plays from The Chemical Brothers and a certain Mr.Weatherall who received upfront copies.
It follows the success of Daniel´s debut EP ´Need Electric´ on Phantasy Sound, which brought support from Damian Lazarus, Maya Jane Coles, Four Tet, Richie Hawtin, Gesaffelstien, Tiga, Brodinski, Justin Robertson, Jackmaster – as well as the aforementioned Chemical Brothers and Weatherall – to name just a handful. The release also features a special remix of ‘Need Electric’ from Portuguese duo Photonz. To add to this, Daniel also releases his brilliant Fabriclive mix CD on November 19th for the London institution where he remains a resident.
