Cocoon Closing 2018 – the review
Each season is different, and this one was for sure a very different one for our favourite promoter, Cocoon, as they changed venue from Amnesia to Pacha.
The Techno Pioneer in Ibiza moving to a club that is mostly known for House music in all its shades, that would surely be an experiment. The outcome was nothing less than an adventure of extra class, me personally I loved the mix of classic Cocoon Techno flavoured with a heavy dosage of most groovy Tech House sounds. The sound system is of the finest the island has to offer, powerful, clear, warm and finally not too loud but massive enough to get that vibration going.
As for the closing, the mix of Seth Troxler’s addictive beats followed by the master himself on the main floor was a win-win situation. Watching Seth ‘warming up’ in a way that only he is able to, paving the way for a final set of master Sven drowning the crowd in a sea of beats somewhere between the classic Cocoon Techno, all-time classics and most sexy Tech House.
The second floor, the former Pachacha, is as intimate as it gets, the sound is fantastic and people come in to dance, no (anti-) social media posing, no fishing for compliments – pure Cocoon style. Cesar Vincent prepared the guests for two staples in the Cocoon roster, Dana Ruh and André Galluzzi. The mix of Dana’s beats and André’s persistence in driving the crowd mad made this floor also one to remember.
As a resumé I can say the Cocoon experience in Pacha certainly is different to the one in Amnesia, me personally I like the intimacy of Pacha being a classic nightclub, so to put in in one sentence I would not say back to the roots but definitely back to the future.
Same goes for the after hour in Km5, as for this event the iconic venue transforms in what we love the most about it, a true living room for those who know.
Farewell our fellow Cocoonies, we already miss you and can’t wait for next season when we celebrate 20 years together.
