LARRY PETERS & UMHO – CHARACTER EP
Larry Peters has been on a real roll of late, with his cultured and dynamic sound marking him out as one of south America’s finest proponents of clued-in house producers.
Following on from a string of well received jams, his latest pretty much sees him go on from where he left off, as he remind us off his inimitable talents once more courtesy of the magnificent Character EP on the eMBI Music Ltd label.
Even so, the sounds that permeate this one are just that bit different from what we’ve come to expect from him. The title track is an early case in point. Wrapped in taut ravey stabs and with an unrelenting and moody intensity at its core, it’s the sort of crossover gem that’ll earn kudos in both Ibiza and Detroit. ‘’Eeeicha!’’ (a collab between Peters and UMHO) is another intricate gem. Imbued with delicacies and various hidden nooks and crannies, it keeps the intensity high thanks to its dizzying guitar licks and a penchant for the off-kilter.
The first of the remixes closes us out amongst a haze of eeriness, as Miguel Lobo cleverly puts a new spin on things. Daniele Casa zippy and uncontrollable vibes set off by the loose-edged synths define his remix of ‘’Eeeicha!’’, closing out a robust and full-on 4 tracker in the process.
