HUNTER GAME – GENESIS EP

It’s a great pleasure to present the first label release from Hunter/Game on their recently birthed new imprint Just This.

For their debut release on Just This, label heads Hunter/Game deliver a stellar package of atmospheric house and techno, topped off by superb remix contributions by Ripperton and Chymera.

After celebrated releases on Innervisions, Rumours, Last Night on Earth, My Favourite Robot, Hot Creations and Dynamic, Milano born and based duo Hunter/Game have created their own platform for disseminating their musical passions, courtesy of new imprint Just This. The imprint is inspired by their influential events of the same name held in secret locations around their home city and first begun in cahoots with Matteo from Tale of Us and saw the artists, along with fellow Milano bred artists Mind Against enjoy their formative DJ experiences.

With their maiden output on Just This, Hunter/Game have crafted an EP that is at once both hypnotic and beguiling and continues their fine reputation for creating music that inspires the mind, while moving the hips.

Title track ‘Genesis’ plunges the listener in evocative deep techno territory, framed by melodic licks and subtle, bubbling percussion that’s builds towards an exhilarating crescendo of rushy synths.  Clocking in at over 11-minutes, Ripperton delivers an epic reinterpretation of the title track that brews layers of tribal drums over blissful sheets of melody.

On ‘Tree of Life’ Hunter/Game build up a sleek slice of modern melodic electronica awash with warm pads and a heady synth riff, while on the flip Irish-born studio ace Chymera, delivers a more club-ready interpretation with driving bass and fist-pumping techno percussion propelling the cut forward.

‘Eclipse’ is the most peak-time offering of the package and available in digital format only, and is a deep driving techno gem infused with a prevailing melody-soaked synth line that nudges the track into big room territory, before H/G plunge things back into grittier bottom end territory as punchy techno once again comes to the fore.

“All the tracks are based on the progression of synthesizer melodies that creates a path connecting every cut on EP. We started with a synth in ‘Genesis’ made with SH-101. This synth mixed with a Moog creates a dramatic atmosphere like an Eclipse. In Tree of Life, the evolution of sounds creates a climax that makes you think of cosmic and mythological tales.” – Hunter/Game
