BENNO BLOME – MOVING FREE EP
For their next trick the Artreform label offers up a big track that was previously released on Bar25 and get it remixed by some big names of the day.
Tripmastaz, Rhadow and the man behind the original – Blome – are those men, and the results make for a compelling house EP with real funk in its bones.
The first version is Blome’s subtle rework of the Moving Free original. It’s a barrelling house cut with wobbly bass and flabby synths that is fat and funked up. It’s full of flavour and is sure to make dance floors get wild. Then comes Rhadow’s version, which is more stupid back and deep, with grey scale chords and a dub undercurrent driving it along. Lastly, Russia’s Tripmastaz (who is part of DJ Sneak’s I’m A House Gangster movement) goes for a more sensitive and melodically inclined version with glossy tinkles and streaming pads all adding up to something quite special indeed.
