Plan Be
‘Only actors, no spectators’ – that were the words i heard from Sam Dean, the manager of brandnew club Plan Be, asking him about the concept of this new venue.
‘The last few years Ibiza went only in one direction, more VIP and more selection of who might be important and who not – here you will not find anything like that. You can book no table, there is no designated VIP area and our door politics are very simple – if you come to dance you are more than welcome, if you come to show off you better go somewhere else’ he adds.
And this is exactly how it looks like – a massive wooden dancefloor in front of a huge wall of containers to block the sound, giving it a real underground character. Two dixie toilets at the entrance backing up the others toilets behind the floor, two bars on each side of the floor and some plants, all covered by a massive camouflage rag to keep the sun away as they will open daytime from 4 pm to midnight, maybe more.
A pile of old tires and tables made out of industrial cable rolls, an old english taxi with a photo booth inside provided by Essential Ibiza to get your personal memory of this night and last but not least a most cool sound system delivered by Void Audio that almost seems a bit oversized but will always sound great.
And finally somebody is offering drinks for a reasonable price, we said that for years but all that seems to count is the money made at the end of the day. In Plan Be a water costs 2,50 Euros, a beer or shot is 5 and a longdrink is 7,50 Euros – BRAVO. There is still enough money to make but if anybody wants to drink only water it will not cost 10 euros like in most of the other clubs – which is completely irrational and on top dangerous – people need to have access to water for a reasonable price or for free, if not you risk somebody dying of dehydration just because he or she can not afford the water…
We only hope that the authorities and competitors will be patient and give this very different concept a chance, we need something else apart of the ‘Very Impotent Posh‘ concept, and Plan Be is filling this gap in a very creative way.
All the best from dub magazine for the future!
