My dearest Friends
on massive public demand we publish this article again here online – enjoy :+)
My dearest friends,
the fact that we live in Ibiza does not automatically make us multi-millionaires, and we do not spend our time going to the beach the whole day – every day – to achieve the perfect tan. Nor do we party each night as if it would be the last one in our wonderful Ibizan dreamworld. And we do not go to the most beautiful restaurants each night sipping champagne and snacking canapés, followed by something you need a dictionary to find out what it is paying a fortune with a whitened smile on our freshly scrubbed face.
And of course we do not drive around in a Hummer or Ferrari cabriolet flirting with all the beautiful tourists to later shag them in our 4x4m round waterbed under a transparent roof and hidden cameras to later have a diabolic wank on it. And not to forget the fact that we are not ready to let go even the very last bit of education to appear in any of those glamorous magazines full of trendy ads and useless content nobody reads anyway.
NO.
We work fucking hard every day to maintain what we call a free life – even if it is not as free as it used to be, but this keeps being a paradise. We sacrifice a lot of things to make this island to what it is, in whatever sector we work, and this is our very own satisfaction, despite of a wonderful and every year longer off-season where we truly have fun (if we made enough money in summer of course, if not we call it the ‘valley of tears’ or ‘boulevard of broken dreams’) and can enjoy the island’s real beauty.
We eat when we can, sleep when we must and party when we have to. You can easily detect us, we are the sweaty skinny white wild-looking ones that rush through the masses like we want to participate in the next Ironman, having a smile on our face that seems more to be painted than coming from our inner self.
We do not drug ourselves 24 hours as the Authorities want to make you believe, in fact we do not even have wild sex relations with all you out there. You could say we are a very rare species of masochistic optimists following the dream that made so many of us come to Ibiza to find our true spirit.
So please, whenever you plan to visit us in our homes in Ibiza, be a bit patient and consider that we can not be your perfect tour guide 24/7, giving you free tickets and drinks to enter all the clubs and bars, and if you ask us to go out with you and we say no please do not answer ‘is it possible that you are becoming old and boring?’
This does not make us feel better in any way.
We will do whatever we can to make things happen – but in our very own way and rhythm, so try to support us wherever you can. And if we tell you that now is not the right moment for a visit – do not take it personally, if you insist in coming just take a hotel and leave us alone for a while, we will host you as soon as we have a free minute.
And why the hell do you never come in the off-season??? This island is so beautiful from October to may, especially in winter you can have the time of your life – and flights are a lot cheaper…
We do love you and friends are of the most important in life – see you hopefully very soon.
btw. – the shirt on the picture is soon available on this page – stay tuned.
