My best friend Murphy…
Since the ‘Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy’ we know who is responsible for things to go wrong, it is our dear friend Murphy with his ‘Murphy’s law’ – what can go wrong will go wrong. And on top of all this we live in Spain, land of the no-sayers, land of the irresponsible, the spectators, the frustrated, land of the corrupt politicians, even the King’s family seems to give a shit about honor, pride and justice. One example: The day the law of ‘no more smoking in gastronomic establishments’ was introduced the whole country adapted it from one day to the other, without questioning, without any resistance. Even in Germany, land of the squareheads and political correctness there are numberless cities and even whole states that do not apply this law because it is stupid to think that this will change any habit in people smoking or not. The so-called crisis (you know i do not like it because it does not exist, it is a product of politics to make us believe we are in trouble when the only one’s fuc…ng it up are our banks and corrupt politicians) led to a complete chaos in Spain, we got more than 6 million people without a job, going straight to the 30% mark in general and more than 57% amongst the young people – what perspective is this?? Censorship and manipulation amongst the media is just one of the results of this massive bail-out (another word i can not stand…) which does mean nothing else then to make us people responsible for the mess our governments produced. At some point you got no other choice then to laugh about it but if you examine it with a clear head all you want to do is scream, stand up and kick some ass. More than 60 people committed suicide only in Spain because of the evictions by banks to the people that couldn’t pay their mortgage any more, leaving them without their homes but still with the mortgage to pay – very clever indeed. At least the European Court put an end to this practice declaring it illegal, but nobody will bring back the lives of those people. Me i am a so-called ‘Autonomo’, an autonomous and pay 250 Euros each month to the government for social security (what a word…) and other indirect taxes, if i find a job or not, this is the highest rate in Europe, in other countries you pay a percentage of what you earn, if you earn nothing you pay nothing, if you earn a lot you pay a lot – fair enough. And on top there are the income taxes which is understandable. Now that the middle class does not exist any more and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer it is obvious that this is a recipe for disaster – sooner or later this will crash, and if you ask me the sooner the better.
Do not get me wrong, we all need to participate in maintaining what we call a social state, but if i say all i mean ALL, not just the ones at the end of the ladder.
To get back to Murphy’s law, living in Ibiza in the beginning of may means having survived a long and moneywise quite ‘slim’ winter if you did not make a fortune in summer, but this is more and more difficult as the season gets shorter and people do not have money to spend. So you better be prepared and get your shit together, pray for peace but prepare for war is a credo that can protect you from drowning, and as every year now is the moment everybody needs to get to work, everything needs to be done in lightspeed and all the prayers for people to plan their season a bit earlier were once more ignored. When do we realize that what you do in a rush is not half as good as what you do with patience and a clear head? Now the days pass by in a split second, nights are spent to be able to cope with it all and what you call a private life is fading away every day.
But we love it, we are addicted to it, if not we would have turned our backs to Ibiza a long time ago as some already did, but no, we stay, we fight, we resist, and we say ‘you know what dear friend Murphy? Go f..k yourself’ – welcome to another boiling season on one of the world’s most crazy islands – Ibiza.
