If you happen to live in Ibiza right now you can consider yourself a real resident, only if you live the season and off-season you know what this island is really about.
It is the time to reflect, stay home in front of the chimney, warm and cosy, go out if you feel like to some of the very fine events that are celebrated in winter or relax to the max from all the summer’s craze. If you are lucky and you got a home that is not cold and humid you can enjoy the island’s beauty in winter, and if you are on top with your beloved one’s you can consider yourself very very privileged.
Even the loneliness (if you are a single) that winter brings with it can be very inspiring, lots of friends are gone until next season so you got no other choice than to spend time with yourself, reflect what has happened so far and make plans for the future. After you saw all your movies (again) and read all your books (again and again) the only way is to start something new, express yourself and prepare for another forthcoming season. Without the summer’s heat we could not stand winter’s ‘cold’ (which is not really cold but very humid) and vice versa, only if you relax enough in winter you can go for another summer marathon.
What i especially love about this island is the fact that if you do not read the newspapers or get your information online you are completely disconnected from the outer world, here nobody is talking about politics in bars or restuarants or other public places like in the big cities or metropolis where it seems to be an urge to exchange political views non stop because you are bombed with (dis)information wherever you go.
And what about the endless beach walks, if you happen to have a dog then this is the time to take them to the beach, explore the forests and discover places you have never seen – even after 17 years i happen to find spots i have never been before.
Wish you a happy december and a healthy start into 2014, this is paradise, whenever you get depressed just look around and cherish what you got.
Never look down – always look up, to the bright side of life.
