Editor’s Letter April 2016
Ibiza is slowly but surely heading towards the summer season, another one to top the numbers of tourists invading the island.
As for now the number of tourists will grow (again) around 15 – 20% compared to last year, that would mean almost one million more people, if the numbers from last year were right saying we had more than 5 million coming to Ibiza by air and sea…
The reason for these growing numbers is not the island itself, fact that we must be very aware of in order to not think we are the greatest, but the fact that on the other side of the Mediterranean there is war all over the place. So instead of rising the quality of tourists we will have to deal with all types of tourism, fact that is good for the economy itself but it needs to be organized and the money should stay on the island and with the workers, not in the hands of a few getting richer and richer.
Overlooking the road works all over the place i ask myself if this will lead to a happy end or complete chaos, and something in the back of my head tells me it might rather be the second choice… Just by visualizing a trip from Sta. Eulalia to Ibiza or vice versa i know that the whole part between Cana Negreta and way behind Jesus will be one rock solid traffic jam, day after day.
Club news have revealed almost all the new entries and changes this year, my personal clubbing highlights will be the Sundays at Space – for the good memories – the ‘Dance 88/89’ night in Sankeys to revive the golden years of 88/89 where it all began, my all time fave Cocoon in Amnesia and, besides of Solomun + 1, i am excited to see Maceo Plex plus guests perform in Pacha. On top it looks like DC10 will be back and rolling this year, as without this icon the island’s club world would not be the same.
Dub magazine will be back on the island with two editions, one end of June and one end of July, bringing you the best this island has to offer, plus some new entries that are soon to be revealed. So stay tuned, Spring just started and the island is getting ready for the hottest Summer ever.
Our motto is more than ever ‘quality never prostitutes’, as this is the only way to move forward.
Yours faithfully, the dubious.
