Aaron Swartz is dead.
Aaron Swartz was an exceptional, genious and free mind in a world ruled by a few in order to stay in control.
He started programming very early and was at the tender age of 14 already more advanced than what many others achieve in their lifetime. He was an internet activist trying in whatever way to make information accessible to all, and not always in a legal manner. His friends and colleagues say he never did anything out of egoistic interest nor did he break the law massively.
He as well helped developing Reddit, a social media platform calling itself ‘the frontpage of the internet’, and helped developing RSS feeds, something we all use today to gather information in an easy way.
The question on why he committed suicide will remain unanswered, sure is that he suffered from severe depression and was facing a law suit that could have put him in jail for up to 35 years, ridiculous for what he did according to his family. What remains is the fact that he will stay forever in the minds of those people who believe in the right for a free internet, an unlimited exchange of information that has become viral in our times.
Our condolations go to his family and friends.
